C Thomas Mitchell

Redefining designing, from form to experience

'... laypeople find it difficult to collaborate in the design of something with which they are not very familiar. In the Jordan case, for example, a husband tried to design his future house without permitting his wife to have any input. It quickly became apparent that he was involved in very few activities in the house. When unable to generate a design he reluctantly asked his wife to "help", and a design that pleased them both was then quickly generated.'
(p.80.39)

Tom Mitchell's book is the best review I know of attempts to share art and design processes 'with everyone'. Surely the way of the future?
