I prefer to think that the future is not decided in advance but
is being formed in every moment as we live and speak. It is at meetings
like this one, where people are struggling to understand and influence what
is happening in the world, that the future is most consciously being
formed, I believe. We underestimate ourselves enormously, even fatally, if
we speak of our future as if we ourselves did not form it, at least in
part. We are the future, you and me and everyone. Thinking about questions
like this is the future happening. The future of the human mind.
