Several things I'd seen recently made me realise that there is now in western culture a strong and dangerous movement away from politeness, and feminism, and paying taxes for the benefit of others, and racial integration, and any kind of sympathy for other people.

And in it's place is a new culture that appears to many of us as being exclusively hard and ungenerous and violent.

For instance the pitiless nature of what I believe is called 'lad's television' (nothing but sport and glamourised violence and humour both racialist and anti-feminist).


And now, as I transcribe, I'm remembering a thought of a few days ago:
