(this still has to be altered in detail)

hello jonathan

At last the electric edition is becoming a
connected unit after existing for five years as
separate pieces, scattered about the ellipsis
website, while the printed version was slowly
taking form.

What follows in the first connective step - the
twenty-five letters from me to Tom and yourself
(though some of these were written for me by
Utopia, Numeroso and my two angels Edwina Mare and
William Dragon).

The next connective step is to link the original
pieces (hermeneutic homepages as I called them at
first) as attachments to the letters - and this
you have begun to do. The first of these, ..... ,
is attached to letter .....

What's missing as yet is the majority of
attachments that were drawn from things I've
written over the years (from 1949 to the present)
and these I hope you will attach to the electric
edition eventually. These include the softecnica
pieces (e.g. THE PHONE, already linked to the
letters) which contain most of what refers
specifically to the internet - the rest of the
book refers more to the people, to ourselves, than
to the internet.

Well, this is itself a most 'connective moment',
the complexity of which is I hope exemplified (if
not explained) in the 'found poem' which you are
making of the index of words (which itself took us
all so much time to compile and to correct after
various errors that were induced by faulty
software!)...

...so good wishes now, towards the end of our long
collaboration and my profound thanks for this
opportunity to be doing what may seem a strange
and unexpected work but which will surely one day
be seen as normal, in these digitised and
fluidised circumstances... in which our fixed
roles and expectations are no more...

inquisitive mice may also find some other fragments destined to be stitched together one day, such as the phone , 100 words , ficracopra , and other pieces from today's home page . there is also a short reading list which might be of interest.

sheepreaders, who may prefer a contents page, may wish to take another route ...
